You can upload photos from the Theme step of the setup wizard, or later from Tenant Settings. There are three distinct slots and they behave differently.

The two families use them differently: designer themes use a primary image as the full-width hero background, colour themes cycle all three through a photo collage. Either way, uploading them is worth it, this used to only affect designer themes and no longer does.
#Uploading them

Open the Theme step in the wizard, or Tenant Settings → Theme → Edit Settings.

Find the slot you want, primary images, why-choose-us, or how-it-works.

Upload your photo.

Check the preview.
It updates immediately. This is the real layout, so what you see is what visitors get.

Publish when you are happy, see Preview, draft and publish.
#What makes a good hero photo
A hero image runs full width and often has text over it. That constrains what works, more than people expect.
- Landscape, not portrait. A tall photo gets cropped hard at the top and bottom.
- Something calm on one side. Sky, a wall, open ground, that is where your headline sits. A photo busy across its whole width makes the text unreadable.
- Wide enough. A phone photo is usually fine; a thumbnail pulled off a listing site is not.
- Local and recognisable beats generic. A street your buyers know does more work than a stock interior.
Blueprint Dark and Neo place light text over your hero. A bright, high-key photo leaves the headline barely legible. If you want one of those themes, pick a darker or more muted image.
#If you have no photos yet
Skip it. Every theme renders properly without your own images, you get the theme's own treatment rather than a broken layout or an empty box. Add them later from Tenant Settings whenever you have something good.
