A drip campaign is a sequence of emails sent over time. You build it once; every contact you enrol walks through it from their own start point.

#When to use one
| Good fit | Poor fit |
|---|---|
| Nurturing a new lead over weeks | A one-off announcement, use the composer |
| A welcome sequence for new sign-ups | Anything about one specific property, use a trigger |
| Re-engaging contacts who went quiet | Something time-critical that cannot wait for a schedule |
| An event invitation and its reminders |
#Two rules that shape how you build
Read these before designing a campaign, they change the answer, and finding out afterwards is expensive.
| Rule | Consequence for your design |
|---|---|
| One campaign per contact | You cannot run two campaigns at the same people. Build one campaign with more steps |
| Two emails per contact per 24 hours | Steps stacked too close get permanently skipped, not delayed |
Nearly every "I need two campaigns" turns out to be one campaign with a delay in the middle. See Running an event series safely.
#The shape of building one
- 1
Create it and add steps.
- 2
Decide what the timing is anchored to.
- 3
Choose the audience.
- 4
Read the pre-flight card.
- 5
Start it, and watch the first step land.
Campaigns are created as drafts with no audience. Nothing sends until you add contacts and press Start.
