Your blog publishes to your own domain. It is the single highest-value thing you can do for being found, by search engines and by AI assistants. See Being found.
#Writing one
- 1
Go to Blogs → New Post.
- 2
Write a title.
This generates the URL automatically. You can edit that separately.
- 3
Write the body in the editor.
Bold, italic, headings, lists, quotes, links, images, alignment, undo, and raw HTML if you want it.
- 4
Add a featured image and its alt text.
Used at the top of the post and in every social preview.
- 5
Write an excerpt.
Around 160 characters. Shown in search results, social cards and your blog listing.
- 6
Add up to 10 tags.
- 7
Publish, schedule, or save as a draft.
#The fields, and why each matters
| Field | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Title | The headline, and the basis of your URL |
| Slug | The URL. Checked for uniqueness before saving, so you never get a clash |
| Featured image | Appears at the top and in every shared link. A post without one previews badly |
| Alt text | Accessibility, and helps search engines understand the image |
| Excerpt | Your search-result and social-card summary. Left blank, something is chosen for you and it is rarely as good |
| Tags | Group related posts and power tag pages |
#The pre-publish checklist
The sidebar checks, in real time, that you have a title, at least 100 words, a featured image with alt text, an excerpt, at least one tag, a meta title and a meta description. Each shows a tick or a warning.
It is not enforced, but every item on it affects how the post appears in search, in AI answers and when shared. It takes two minutes.
#Auto-save and revisions
Existing posts auto-save every 30 seconds, so closing the browser does not lose work. Every update also stores a revision, keeping the last 10, so you can look back at what changed.
#Preview
Preview opens the post exactly as a reader will see it, full layout, featured image, reading progress bar and table of contents, and works for drafts and scheduled posts, not just published ones.
#What to write about
- Market updates for the areas you serve.
- Community and neighbourhood guides.
- Buying and selling advice.
- Anything a client actually asked you last week.
If you would rather not start from blank, EZ Assist will draft it.
