Media library and tags

The media library your posts draw images from, and the tags that organise them.

#The media library

Blogs → Media holds every image used across your posts. Upload once, reuse anywhere.

  1. 1

Drag files onto the upload area, or click to browse.

Several at once is fine. Up to 10 MB each.

  2. 2

Images are compressed automatically and stored securely.

You do not need to resize anything first.

  3. 3

Hover any image to edit its filename and alt text, copy its URL, or delete it.

Set alt text when you upload

It is the moment you know what the picture is. Alt text helps screen readers and search engines, and it is one of the pre-publish checklist items.

When inserting an image or choosing a featured image, the library opens with search and pagination.

#Tags

Blogs → Tags lists every tag with its name, URL slug and how many posts use it.

ActionEffect
CreateAdd a tag with a name and optional description
Create inlineType a new tag in the editor and press Enter
EditRename or re-describe it. Changes apply everywhere it is used
DeleteRemoves it from every post that had it. You are warned first

#Tagging well

  • Up to 10 per post, but three or four is usually right.
  • Reuse existing tags, the editor suggests popular ones as you type.
  • Tags create public archive pages, so treat them as reader navigation rather than private filing.
  • Place names make good tags. Your readers search by place.
Blog tags are not contact tags

These organise posts. Contact tags organise people. They are separate systems with separate lists.
