When an address bounces permanently, someone unsubscribes, or a client closes their account, EasyDigz records it and stops sending there. You do not maintain a list. There is no spreadsheet.
#What suppresses an address
| Event | Result | Reaches |
|---|---|---|
| Hard bounce, on any agent's email | The address is permanently undeliverable. Suppressed, and counted toward that campaign's bounce total | Every agent on EasyDigz |
| Unsubscribe click | Suppressed, and their digest is locked to None | Your emails only |
| Spam complaint | Suppressed | Your emails only |
| Client closes their account on your site | Suppressed before the account is closed. Campaigns and deal updates stop | Your emails only |
If an address hard-bounces for any EasyDigz agent, it is blocked for every agent, because it cannot receive mail for anyone. So a contact can show as Bounced even if they never bounced on your emails. Addresses that bounced before 28 October 2026 are already on the list.
When an account is deleted, its suppression record is kept, so the address can never be emailed again by accident.
| Term | Means |
|---|---|
| Hard bounce | Permanent, the address does not exist and never will |
| Soft bounce | Temporary, a full mailbox, a server down. Can become a hard bounce if it keeps happening |
#Checked twice
Suppressed contacts are filtered when they are enrolled, and again immediately before each send, drip, trigger and manual. The second check matters, someone can unsubscribe on day two of a fourteen-day sequence, and the filter at enrolment would not have caught that.
#Checked when you upload
Every address in a bulk upload is checked against the bounce list, and you see the result straight away, for example "45 known bounces found, they will not be emailed." Those contacts are still added to Accounts, but they are never emailed.
A brand-new list with bad addresses nobody has mailed yet can still produce two hard bounces and an auto-pause. Send to a small part of a new list first.
#It applies to manual email too
The daily cap exempts emails you type yourself in the composer. Suppression does not. If someone has unsubscribed from you, a one-off personal email through EasyDigz will not reach them either. An opt-out is an opt-out.
If you genuinely need to reach that person, an existing client mid-transaction, say, contact them outside EasyDigz.
#What unsubscribing reaches
Someone who unsubscribes from your email can still hear from a different agent on EasyDigz. That is correct for a white-label product, as far as they are concerned they were on your list, not a platform's.
Closing an account works the same way: a client who closes their account on your site is leaving you, not EasyDigz, and can still have an account with another agent. Hard bounces are the exception, they are blocked for everyone.
#What a recipient sees
- 1
They click Unsubscribe in your email footer.
- 2
A branded page opens showing your company name and their email address.
No account, no sign-in, no password.
- 3
They confirm with one more click.
- 4
They see immediate confirmation, and are removed from your future marketing.
Their status changes everywhere at once, the Subscription column on your Accounts screen and their own Notification Preferences both show them as not subscribed.
Every marketing email gets one automatically. You never have to include one, and you should not try to build your own. Images pasted or dragged into an email no longer cut it short, so the footer, the unsubscribe link and open tracking always arrive intact.
#When a client closes their account
Their address is suppressed before the account closes, and their row on Admin → Accounts carries a Deleted badge. You get a bell notification and an email: "[name] ([email]) has requested to delete their account on your site. Emails from your site to them have stopped, campaigns and deal updates included." If the client signs in again, they can restore the account with one click.
#Coming back
An opt-out is the contact's decision, so only they can undo it. You cannot re-subscribe someone yourself, and nothing re-subscribes them quietly.
- 1
They log in to your site and open Dashboard → Notification Preferences.
- 2
Under Marketing Email Subscription, they click Subscribe.
- 3
They confirm in the pop-up.
Subscribe and Unsubscribe both ask first, so a stray click never changes anything. If it fails they see an error, rather than the switch quietly flipping back.
- 4
Optionally, they choose an Email Digest Frequency again and click Save Preferences.
While someone is unsubscribed their digest is locked to None, and saving preferences never turns email back on by itself.
One switch covers both your newsletter and your marketing email, subscribing turns both on and unsubscribing turns both off. You will see them return to Subscribed on your Accounts screen straight away.
A signed-in contact who clicks Subscribe in your website footer sees their name filled in and their email locked to their account, with no captcha. If they are already subscribed, they see You're already subscribed and a Manage email preferences link.
#Spotting them before you send
When choosing recipients you will see labels, Unsubscribed, Bounced, Recent bounce, Duplicate, No email, Temp account, Test domain, so you can see who cannot be reached before you commit. A contact that bounced in the last 30 days is skipped at enrolment.
#Cleaning up
Open a campaign and click Remove all bounced to take every bounced contact out of that campaign; they stay in your Contacts. The Email Health widget has a Bad addresses list where you can remove or shut off invalid entries. Cleaning up is also what lets you resume a campaign the system auto-paused, see Auto-pause and lockouts.
