The seller’s "List Your Property" form

The "List Your Property" form a seller uses on your own website, the three steps, and what fills in automatically.

The seller uses the List Your Property form on your website. They must be logged in, if they are not, the site asks them to sign in first.

#Where the seller finds it

  • Top menu: Sell now → the Sell Your Home page → Click here to sell now.
  • The footer link Create a listing, shown on some pages such as search results, when the seller is logged in.
  • Their own dashboard, My Listings: You have no listings. Create one now!

A Preview card beside the form shows how the listing will look as they type, title, price, beds, baths, square feet and photos.

#Step 1 — Property Location

  1. 1

The seller types the address into the Address box.

  2. 2

    Suggestions appear as they type.

Homes already on the MLS are marked Listing. Cities and zip codes show how many homes are there.

  3. 3

They click a suggestion, or type at least 5 characters and press Enter.

There is no Next button on this step.

Picking an MLS match fills in most of the next step

If the seller picks their home from the Listing suggestions, Step 2 is filled in automatically from the MLS: title, address, city, state, zip, county, bedrooms, bathrooms, rooms, square feet, price, description, property type and video. A home not on the MLS will not appear as a suggestion, the seller should type the full address and press Enter instead.

#Step 2 — Property details

All fields are required except photos and the video link.

SectionFields
Property DetailsTitle (5+ characters), Property Type, Price, Total Rooms, Bedrooms, Bathrooms, Square Feet
LocationAddress (from Step 1), Country, State, City, County, Zip Code
Contact InformationFirst Name, Last Name (letters only, 3–20 characters), Phone Number

DescriptionProperty Description (10+ characters)
Two formatting rules worth telling sellers

Enter the street address as the Title, that is what the platform saves as the listing’s address. Enter the zip code as 5 plain digits, a zip with a dash (27603-1234) can be rejected on submit.

A red box lists anything missing. Once everything is filled in, the seller clicks Next Step.

#Step 3 — Disclosure Agreement

  1. 1

The seller reads the agency disclosure on the page.

  2. 2

They tick at least one option: Seller’s Agency, Dual Agency, Designated Dual Agency, or Buyer Agent Working with an Unrepresented Seller.

  3. 3

    They click Submit Listing.

Some options exclude each other

Dual Agency and Designated Dual Agency cannot both be ticked. Buyer Agent Working with an Unrepresented Seller cannot be combined with the other three. An option that cannot be combined turns grey with a short explanation.

#After the seller submits

  • They see "Listing Submitted" and a message that it is pending your approval.
  • The listing appears on your Listings page.
  • You are notified about the new listing.
  • The Created-stage emails go out, see The 12 listing stages.
