A wave of bounces is the fastest way to damage a sending reputation, and it usually means a list problem rather than a content problem. EasyDigz stops the campaign before the damage is done.
#Campaign level
Two hard bounces on a single campaign pause that campaign immediately. It gets an amber Auto-paused badge with a dashed border and a pulsing dot, distinct from a Paused you set yourself. Hovering it shows the reason: "Halted automatically after 2 hard bounces. Resume manually after reviewing your list."
#Account level
If halts keep happening within 30 days, protection escalates, because a repeat means the first halt was not acted on.
| Occurrence | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1st | Campaign pauses. Warning only, other campaigns still send once you have cleaned the list |
| 2nd within 30 days | Campaign pauses. Stronger warning, still no account lockout |
| 3rd | Campaign pauses and all marketing sending stops for about 48 hours. Triggers are blocked; composer email and workflow email still go out. Clears by itself |
| 4th and beyond | Campaign pauses and all marketing sending stops for about 7 days. You must contact [email protected] to restore access |
Thirty days with no new halts puts you back to the beginning of the ladder.
The Email Health widget always shows your current offense level and what happens next, for example "Offense 1 of 4. Next one: campaign pauses with a warning."
#The lockout banner
| Offense | What you see at the top of the email pages |
|---|---|
| 1st and 2nd | No banner, only the auto-paused campaign and your offense level in Email Health |
| 3rd, amber warning | "Email sending is paused", with the reason, the offense number and the hours until sending resumes. You can dismiss it for this browser session. Start and Send Now are disabled |
| 4th and beyond, red | Includes [email protected]. Sending stays paused until support clears it. It cannot be dismissed |
#During a lockout
| You can still | You cannot |
|---|---|
| Send manual emails from the composer | Start or send drip campaigns |
| Edit campaigns, lists and templates | Send trigger emails |
| View analytics and audience status | |
| Receive workflow and transactional email |
A lockout stops automated marketing. Manual email from the composer keeps working throughout, so an in-flight transaction is never blocked by it.
#Restarting an auto-paused campaign
- 1
Find the amber Auto-paused badge on the Drip Campaigns list and hover it for the reason.
- 2
Open the campaign and click Remove all bounced.
Check the number of contacts in the confirmation, then confirm. They leave this campaign only and stay in your Contacts. This cannot be undone, removed contacts must be added back by hand.
- 3
Open Email Health → Bad addresses and remove or shut off any other invalid or old addresses.
In the Drip Campaign Builder. This is the actual fix. Restarting without it produces the same bounces and the next rung of the ladder.
- 4
Click Resume on the campaign.
- 5
Tick the acknowledgement in the Confirm list is cleaned dialog.
It shows the hard bounce and complaint counts. The Resume button only works once the box is ticked, and the campaign does not restart until you confirm.
The gate is there because the tempting move, resume and hope, is what escalates you. Ticking the box is a deliberate moment to check you actually fixed something.
#Avoiding it
- Do not email lists you bought or scraped. This is the single biggest cause.
- Import from a source where the addresses were given to you, through Bulk Upload, which flags known bounces before they are emailed.
- Send to a small part of any new list first.
- Watch the bounce number on the Email Health widget, amber is a warning worth acting on.
- Do not restart a bounced campaign against the same unmodified audience.
