On your account, a contact can be in more than one active or paused drip campaign at a time. Until 28 October 2026 the limit was one; that limit has been removed. When you add someone who is already enrolled elsewhere, you decide what happens to them.
#Seeing it before you start
Contacts already in another active or paused campaign are flagged In another campaign on the Audience tab, so you can decide early rather than at the last moment.
#The overlap pop-up
When you add contacts who are already in another campaign, a pop-up shows how many there are and which campaigns they are in. One choice applies to every contact listed:
| Option | Effect |
|---|---|
| Enroll in both (selected by default) | The contact stays in their current campaign and also joins this one |
| Move here | The contact leaves their current campaign and joins this one |
| Skip | The contact is not added to this campaign |
If a contact's other campaign has no emails left that would overlap with this one, they join straight away and are not listed in the pop-up.
#Which one to choose
| Situation | Choose |
|---|---|
| The two campaigns have different purposes, a nurture series and a listing promotion, say | Enroll in both |
| This campaign replaces the old one, an updated version of the same sequence | Move here |
| The contact should not get this campaign right now | Skip |
#How campaigns behave together
- Nothing is cancelled. Joining a second campaign does not cancel any emails already scheduled from the first.
- Campaigns are independent. Pausing or ending one campaign does not affect the contact's other campaigns.
- Suppressed contacts are still excluded. Bounced, unsubscribed and blocked contacts are left out of every campaign.
- Completion does not move anyone. When a campaign finishes, its contacts are not moved on to anything. If you want a follow-on sequence, add them to it explicitly.
A contact receives no more than two marketing emails from you per 24 hours, across all your campaigns combined. A contact in three of your campaigns still gets at most two. If two campaigns each have a step due on the same day and a trigger has already gone out, the extra step is skipped permanently. See The daily cap.
#When one campaign is still better
Running a nurture campaign and a promotional campaign to the same contact is now fine. For a single event series, an invitation, a reminder and a last chance, still build one campaign with timed steps. Two separate campaigns for one event compete for the same two daily slots, so some steps get skipped.
The worked example is Running an event series safely.
If you retry by adding the same audience to a new campaign, leaving Enroll in both selected puts everyone in both. Choose Move here, or clean the list and resume the original instead.
Select all on the Audience tab selects every contact across all pages, not just the current page, so you can clear or remove a large audience in one step.
