A campaign is a draft until you press Start. After that it runs on its own, but the controls behave in ways worth knowing before you use them.
#Starting
- 1
Check the pre-flight card.
- 2
Click Start.
- 3
Resolve the overlap pop-up if it appears.
Enroll in both, Move here or Skip. See Contacts in more than one campaign.
- 4
Watch the first step go out.
Step 1 sends on enrolment, so you see results immediately.
#Watching it send
Open the campaign's Audience tab while it goes out. The header shows Sending, and a card shows how many emails are still queued, updating about every 30 seconds. When the queue is empty the card changes to Campaign finished.
Emails go out at about 60 a minute, so a step to 200 contacts takes three to four minutes to finish. That is deliberate, it protects your sending reputation.
#Pausing
Pause stops anything still queued within seconds. Contacts stay where they are in the sequence and resume from there.
Campaigns are independent. Pausing or ending one does not affect the same contacts' other campaigns. See Contacts in more than one campaign.
#Two kinds of pause
| Badge | Means | To resume |
|---|---|---|
| Paused | You paused it | Click Resume |
| Auto-paused (amber, dashed border) | EasyDigz halted it after two hard bounces | Click Remove all bounced, clean your list, then confirm, see Auto-pause and lockouts |
#Duplicating
Duplicate copies all steps, delays, subject lines and content into a new campaign, opened ready to edit.
It starts as a draft with nobody in it, deliberately, so duplicating a live campaign cannot accidentally email the same people twice.
#What each control does
| Control | Effect on people mid-sequence |
|---|---|
| Pause | Frozen where they are. Nothing queued goes out |
| Resume | Continue from their current step |
| Duplicate | Nothing, the copy has no audience |
| Delete | The campaign and its enrolments are gone |
| Remove all bounced | Every bounced contact leaves this campaign. They stay in your Contacts. Cannot be undone |
| Edit a future step | They receive the updated version when they reach it |
#After it has started
Watch the Analytics tab. The number to check first is not the open rate, it is whether anything bounced, because that is what leads to a pause.
